About the position

The Purchasing Supervisor (PS) at Prime Healthcare is responsible for overseeing the procurement and distribution of equipment, supplies, and services within the organization. This role involves collaborating with management to implement best practices that ensure safety, quality, compliance, and cost reduction while supporting timely delivery to customers. The PS will lead the strategic sourcing process, manage supplier relationships, and ensure adherence to procurement policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the procurement and distribution of equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Develop best practices for safety, quality, compliance, and cost reduction.
  • Lead and support the strategic sourcing process, including bidding and negotiations.
  • Manage supplier selection, development, and contract management.
  • Develop purchase orders in accordance with specifications and requirements.
  • Prepare and review proposals, develop evaluation criteria, and select suppliers.
  • Create electronic purchase orders and administer resulting purchase orders.
  • Negotiate modifications to purchase orders and resolve invoicing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures and train the team as needed.
  • Process and organize purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documents for Accounts Payable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Buyer in the healthcare industry required.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience within procurement or process improvement required.
  • Prior supervisory experience with a proven track record in developing high-performance teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of the acquisition of equipment and supplies in healthcare.
  • Strong planning, organization, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, mathematical, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Office.
