About the position

The Supv-RN Operations Coordinator at the OUHC Cancer Center Infusion Clinic is responsible for supervising and providing care to patients within the unit. This role involves evaluating nursing interventions, coordinating care provided by the healthcare team, and serving as a resource for staff in patient care assessment and planning. The position also includes evaluating staff performance and facilitating problem resolution in collaboration with unit leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Receives patients, explains procedures, checks vital signs, and administers therapy.
  • Monitors reactions and reports to physicians.
  • Handles emergency situations.
  • Provides infusion treatments such as hydration, blood, and blood components, administering drugs and solutions.
  • Organizes, plans, supervises, and provides coordinated patient care within the unit.
  • Supervises, develops, and evaluates assigned departmental staff nurses and technicians.
  • Promotes the adoption of nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines to support evidence-based practice.
  • Manages conflict on assigned shifts and collaborates with other supervisors and unit leadership if further action is needed.
  • Collaborates with patient quality, safety, and experience leadership and promotes patient quality, safety, and experience processes.
  • Supports daily clinical operations on the unit by ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and appropriate clinical supplies and resources are available for patient care.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse diploma required; Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • 1 year of relevant experience as a registered nurse required or 2 years of experience as an LPN in an acute care setting.
  • 2 years of relevant experience as a registered nurse preferred.
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology, laboratory tests, and telemetry.
  • Ability to safely monitor patients throughout infusion therapy.
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Proficient in indicators of operational success such as unit productivity, expense management, regulatory requirements, and quality indicators.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
