About the position

The Supervisor of Designers at Exelon is responsible for overseeing the activities of electric distribution designers, managing the design process, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. This role involves supervising a team, evaluating performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning. The supervisor will also interact with customers and troubleshoot issues, ensuring that all design packages are prepared and scoped appropriately before construction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the activities of electric distribution designers and service associates.
  • Manage the design process and oversee employee performance to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching for improvement.
  • Schedule work and monitor employee work schedules for timely updates.
  • Facilitate training and foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.
  • Provide leadership and development opportunities for team members.
  • Manage the design department budget and interface with design contractors.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and regulations at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of design experience in the Utility industry or equivalent external experience.
  • 2-3 years of internal supervisory experience or acceptable rating on Supervisory Assessment.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and effectiveness in communication and consensus building.
  • Broad knowledge of company policies, objectives, and applicable governmental laws and regulations.
  • Ability to supervise, influence, and execute tasks in a dynamic environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
