About the position

The Surety Bonds Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting commercial and contract surety products, managing agency relationships, and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines. This role involves analyzing complex risks and financial information to drive profitable bond growth while providing ongoing support and training to agents in the Surety Bond department.

Responsibilities

• Participate in day-to-day underwriting and high-level agency management support of agents within the Surety Bond department.
• Ensure assigned key agencies achieve annual business plan.
• Maintain and nurture existing agency relationships to ensure a strong, growing, profitable partnership and achieve expected premium production.
• Train and provide ongoing support to agents for Bonds.
• Underwrite commercial and contract surety products involving complex risks and analysis.
• Adhere to company and department underwriting guidelines and submission processes to drive profitable bond growth by analyzing financial information, credit reports, contracts, statutes, bond forms, etc.
• Meet and maintain service level commitment to customers for commercial and contract bonds.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• 2-5 years of experience in insurance underwriting, specifically in surety bonds and commercial insurance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with License & Permit bonds
• Knowledge of Bid, performance, and payment bonds
• Familiarity with large appeal court bonds
