About the position

The Mammography Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health plays a crucial role in providing high-quality mammography examinations in accordance with the American College of Radiology (ACR) requirements. This position involves performing both screening and diagnostic mammography, as well as other radiologic guided procedures such as stereotactic biopsy and breast localization, all conducted within the Breast Center. The Mammography Technologist is expected to uphold the highest standards of patient care and safety while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements. In this per diem role, the Mammography Technologist will work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional service to patients. The position requires a commitment to continuous education, as the technologist must maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in the field of mammography. This includes obtaining 24 continuing education credits every two years, with a minimum of 5 credits specifically for mammography each year. The technologist will also be responsible for effectively communicating with patients, explaining procedures, and addressing any concerns they may have. Responsibilities

  • Perform mammography examinations following ACR requirements.
  • Conduct screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
  • Execute radiologic guided procedures such as stereotactic biopsy and breast localization.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding procedures and care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must obtain 24 continuing education credits every 2 years, with 5 credits for mammography per year.
  • Meet the requirements for the National Registry (ARRT) and pass the examination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
  • Possess a Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • Registered Technologist in Radiology & Mammography.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
