About the position

The Surgery Scheduler at Coastline Orthopaedic Associates is responsible for scheduling all surgical procedures and ensuring that the necessary clinical and insurance coding information is collected. This role involves receiving scheduling requests from physicians and coordinating procedures according to established guidelines, while maintaining communication with hospital and surgery center departments.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all surgical procedures for physicians.
• Collect appropriate clinical and insurance coding information for the surgery schedule.
• Receive requests to schedule procedures from physicians.
• Maintain open communication with hospital and surgery center departments regarding schedule changes.
• Provide accurate information for daily departmental views.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous scheduling experience in a health care environment is required.
• Experience in customer service is very desirable.
• Hospital registration or admitting experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures is required.
• Must be able to type 40+ wpm.
• Strong computer skills, familiar with Excel, Word, and Windows.
• Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented.
• Highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization, and organization.
• Knowledge of HIPAA/Confidentiality is required.
• Knowledgeable with HMO and PPO guidelines is required.
• Ability to handle multiple MD scheduling.
