Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to patients and caregivers on completing necessary forms and information.
  • Assist with scheduling outside referrals, tests, and consultations.
  • Schedule surgeries via phone or in-person, verifying eligibility and resolving scheduling problems with physicians and clinical staff.
  • Schedule surgeries based on surgeon availability and patient medical conditions.
  • Coordinate with other medical professionals and surgical center departments for special surgical needs.
  • Schedule diagnostic testing and related follow-up appointments.
  • Act as a contact for patients regarding surgery scheduling and provide ongoing communication about the process.
  • Inform patients and relevant third parties about pre and post-surgical instructions.
  • Set post-surgical appointments with physicians and perform related tasks.
  • Ensure cancelled surgeries and appointments are communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and spreadsheet applications.
  • Experience with EMR systems, particularly NextGen, is an asset.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Courses related to anatomy, biology, physiology, or medical terminology.
