About the position

The Surgical Account Manager (SAM) at Bausch + Lomb is a professional sales role focused on the promotion and sale of surgical device products, including intraocular lenses and viscoelastic solutions. The SAM serves as the primary contact for assigned accounts, working closely with ophthalmologists to create demand for surgical technologies and ensure proper product usage. This position requires a strong sales background, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage territory effectively while meeting sales objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Be the key point of contact at assigned accounts for all B+L surgical products.
  • Answer questions about surgical equipment and help triage issues that arise.
  • Create interest and demand for surgical technologies with ophthalmologists in assigned accounts.
  • Coordinate surgical evaluations of products with ophthalmic surgeons and be present to answer questions.
  • Teach and educate doctors and OR staff on the proper use of products.
  • Meet or exceed territory sales objectives for assigned products.
  • Complete a formal training and certification program for all responsible products.
  • Increase knowledge base through advanced and continuing training programs.
  • Develop effective teamwork relationships with other B+L representatives in the sales region.
  • Support the company's mission by providing excellent customer service.
  • Maintain and update territory records of all customers.
  • Effectively utilize and manage territory expenses, sample accounts, and consignments according to company policies.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with the position according to company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent amount of experience.
  • 3+ years sales experience with a proven track record of success.
  • 3+ years of successful ophthalmic or other medical sales experience preferred.
  • Prior surgical experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities to meet goals.
  • Highly motivated and results driven.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Must be willing/able to travel 50%, including overnight travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in surgery is a plus.
