About the position

The Surgical Assistant at Mia Aesthetics Clinic plays a crucial role in the preparation and care of surgical patients, ensuring a sterile environment and assisting surgeons during procedures. This entry-level position offers on-the-job training and opportunities for professional development within a leading plastic surgery clinic dedicated to making quality care accessible to all.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the care and preparation of surgical patients.
• Function as a member of the sterile team by donning gowns and gloves, and maintaining a sterile field.
• Set up tables, instruments, and supplies for plastic surgery operations.
• Assist in the preparation and draping of patients and operative areas.
• Prepare and pass instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed in the operative procedure, maintaining a correct count.
• Assist in the maintenance and care of specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Decontaminate all equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Clean and stock the storage room as required.
• Assist with table equipment, positioning patients, and application of plaster dressings.
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field for the surgical procedure.
• Assist in discharging patients from the Operating Room Suite.
• Follow established HIPAA policies and procedures at all times.
• Assume accountability for attendance and timely completion of mandatory training programs and unit meetings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an Operating Room setting required.
• Surgical Assistant Certification required.
• Holds and maintains an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
• Holds and maintains a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
