About the position

The Surgical Coordinator II Team Lead is responsible for directing, coordinating, and facilitating the surgical scheduling activities for all clinic physicians under the supervision of the Department Director or Office Manager. This role acts as a liaison between the department and other surgical and financial areas, ensuring continuity of care for surgical patients. The Team Lead will oversee the surgical coordinators and scheduling activities, working towards the common goals and mission of the department.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate surgical scheduling activities for clinic physicians.
• Act as a liaison between the department and other surgical and financial areas.
• Lead all activities of the surgical coordinators and surgical scheduling in the department.
• Utilize administrative, financial, and operational policies to facilitate continuity of care for surgical patients.

Requirements

• 2 years of experience working as a surgical scheduler in an ambulatory setting.
• Thorough knowledge of insurance, including HMOs, Medicare, Medicaid, PPO, TriCare, and other third-party payors.
• 2 years of knowledge and understanding of HIPAA, Medical Necessity Software, Scheduling/Registration systems, and insurance web portals.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required at time of hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of HMOs, Medicare, Medicaid, PPO, and third-party payers.
• Ability to provide dynamic customer service using positive language and clear communication.
• Basic computer literacy and arithmetic skills.
