Responsibilities
- Uses surgical instruments skillfully as directed by the surgeon.
- Provides exposure of the operative site through retractors and suctioning.
- Sutures various types of tissue with appropriate techniques.
- Anticipates and plans individualized care based on surgical procedures.
- Prepares equipment and supplies based on the plan of care.
- Demonstrates knowledge of various surgical procedures and implements care plans accordingly.
- Performs in a variety of surgical specialties as needed.
- Demonstrates competence in delegation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
- Evaluates care given by team members and provides feedback.
- Maintains knowledge to meet the diverse needs of patients.
- Organizes and utilizes time efficiently in the surgical environment.
- Works collaboratively with the surgical team and maintains positive relationships.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited surgical tech program.
- Associate's degree or Clinical Certification.
- Three years of experience in a surgical setting.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification.
- Certified First Assistant or Certified Surgical First Assistant certification.
