About the position

This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a team of three surgeons and one other Physician Assistant, providing both inpatient and outpatient services. The ideal candidate will be involved in a variety of surgical procedures, with a focus on surgical oncology and colorectal surgery. This role is open to both new graduates and experienced Physician Assistants with surgical experience, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking to advance their careers in a supportive environment. The position is designed to provide a balanced work-life schedule, featuring a Monday to Friday workweek with no weekends and no call responsibilities. Approximately 30-40% of the role will involve assisting in the operating room, allowing for hands-on experience in surgical procedures. Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient services in surgical oncology and colorectal surgery.
  • Assist in the operating room as a first assistant for surgical procedures.
  • Collaborate with a team of surgeons and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities to enhance skills in surgical oncology and colorectal surgery.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.

Requirements

  • Current Physician Assistant license in Virginia or eligibility for licensure.
  • Experience in surgical settings preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in oncology or surgical specialties is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
