Surgical Supply Technician - Materials Management

About the position

The position involves working in the surgical services division, where the individual will perform various responsibilities and duties to ensure high-quality care and service. The role requires collaboration with surgical staff, anesthesia staff, physicians, and other departments to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for surgeries. The individual will also be responsible for stocking and inventory management of unit supplies, maintaining cleanliness in workspaces, and assisting physicians as needed. Attendance at staff meetings and completion of assigned cleaning duties are also part of the job.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
• Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Surgical services division as defined in the scope of service.
• Attends all required safety training programs.
• Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees.
• Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team.
• Communicates with surgical team or materials management about possible conflicts or potential problems.
• Provides emotional support and comfort measures.
• Attends continuing education programs to maintain hospital and department standards.
• Maintains CPR certification.
• Operates hospital computer system.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certificated by the State Board of Nursing as a Nurse's Assistant.
• Successful completion of a medical terminology class or prescribed test of medical terminology knowledge.
• BLS certification required.
• CNA recommended, not required.
• Minor computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Surgical and/or Medical Supply experience helpful, not required.
