About the position
The Surgical Technician position at Ochsner Health is a PRN role focused on providing support during surgical and endoscopy procedures. The technician ensures the availability of necessary equipment and supplies, assists in scrubbing for surgeries, and performs various duties as assigned by the RN. Responsibilities
- Ensure availability of equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Exhibit skills to competently scrub for surgical procedures and assist in endoscopy procedures.
- Organize activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily needs of the department.
- Communicate information pertaining to patient care needs to patients, family members, and co-workers.
- Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication styles.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and graduate from an accepted course in surgical technology.
- 1 year of experience in a similar medical setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association.
Nice-to-haves
