About the position

Inova Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join their team in Alexandria, Virginia. This role involves providing essential support in surgical procedures, demonstrating knowledge of patient care concepts, and ensuring a sterile environment. The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for preparing surgical cases, assisting in operations, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs and/or provides scrub assistance during surgical procedures.
• Assists the circulating nurse in implementing the perioperative plan of care.
• Identifies factors related to the patient's age and developmental stage during surgical procedures.
• Assists with pulling cases and checks case carts for completeness.
• Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures.
• Follows policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and setting up the back table.
• Exercises care in the operation and use of instruments and equipment.
• Follows OSHA and hospital infection control policies.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Recent hospital experience and/or previous practice experience.
• Certification: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association.
• License: Registered Surgical Technologist.
