About the position

The Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in supporting surgical procedures by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and surgical team. This position requires a thorough understanding of surgical procedures and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team, ensuring patient safety and comfort during operations. The technician also assists with patient preparation and transport, responding to emergent situations as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members.
• Provide service support related to patient preparation and transport.
• Assist the surgical care team with specific patient care duties.
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six months specialized patient care training in the armed forces required.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR).
• Knowledge of surgical practices and techniques in providing patient care.

Nice-to-haves

• Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.
