About the position

The Surgical Technologist position at PeaceHealth involves assisting the surgical team during operative procedures by performing various technical duties, primarily focused on maintaining a sterile environment and preparing for surgeries. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical operations in a critical access hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange and inventory sterile set-up for operations and pass items as needed to the surgical team.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment.
  • Assist in the preparation and movement of patients.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instrumentation; assist with clean-up and room turnover.
  • Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
  • Participate in all safety initiatives and contribute to quality programs such as SCIP and SCOAP.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Preferred: Accredited Program in Surgical Technology or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room.
  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development to meet each patient's needs.
  • Required: Surgical Technician credential in Washington.
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support certification.
  • Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist.

Nice-to-haves

  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision.
  • Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of operating room protocols.
