About the position

The Director of Surveillance is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Surveillance Department at Wind Creek Chicago Southland. This role involves providing guidance and support to the Surveillance departments at other Wind Creek Hospitality facilities, ensuring compliance with established company policies, procedures, and objectives. The Director plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests and staff by monitoring activities within the casino and ensuring adherence to state regulations and internal controls. In this position, the Director will oversee all activities within the surveillance room, ensuring that all team members comply with state regulations, company policies, and departmental procedures. The Director will investigate and monitor any illegal activity, question or interrogate suspected offenders, and interact with local, state, and federal law enforcement officials as necessary. Additionally, the Director will oversee the maintenance and upgrade of the surveillance system, advising management on internal control and policy improvements to protect company assets. The Director will also be responsible for training and supervising team members within the Surveillance Department, ensuring that all paperwork is completed in accordance with Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) standards. The role requires a strong focus on achieving departmental goals while managing resources effectively and developing staff skills to enhance department effectiveness. The Director will conduct performance reviews, maintain an open-door policy for team member concerns, and create a work environment that promotes teamwork and employee satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all activities within the surveillance room.
  • Ensures compliance with state regulations, company policies, and departmental procedures.
  • Investigates and monitors illegal activity.
  • Questions or interrogates suspected offenders of misdemeanors or felony acts.
  • Interacts with law enforcement officials in the investigation of criminal activity.
  • Oversees the maintenance and upgrade of the surveillance system.
  • Advises management on internal control and policy improvements to protect company assets.
  • Trains and supervises team members within the Surveillance Department.
  • Completes all paperwork in accordance with Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) standards.
  • Conducts clandestine surveillance of gaming operations and activities.
  • Provides immediate notice to appropriate supervisors and law enforcement upon detecting illegal activities.
  • Manages staff and organizes department functions in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Conducts divisional/departmental staff meetings at least once per month.
  • Maintains an open-door policy and addresses team member issues in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field AND three (3) years' experience in a Casino Surveillance Management position required OR Seven (7) years' experience in a Casino Surveillance Management position required OR Five (5) years' experience in a Surveillance Management position with Wind Creek Hospitality required.
  • Knowledge of Illinois Gaming Board regulations preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to work odd and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid and current State Driver's License and an insurable driving record required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Occupational License pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act.
