About the position
The Survey Crew Chief will lead a team of surveyors in various projects across a six-state area, ensuring accurate data collection and project execution. This role requires extensive fieldwork and the ability to mentor junior staff while maintaining high standards of quality and safety in surveying practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a survey crew in the field.
- Ensure accurate data collection and documentation.
- Mentor junior staff, including instrument men.
- Interpret construction drawings and provide clear field notes and sketches.
- Work on federal contracts and projects as required.
- Travel to various project sites across a six-state area.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a crew chief in surveying.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying/Engineering preferred.
- Knowledge of Trimble products, Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, and data collectors.
- Ability to work outdoors under various field conditions.
- Experience with federal contracts/projects is a plus.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in civil site development, environmental, geotechnical, and water resources surveying.
