About the position

The Survey Party Chief is responsible for overseeing field surveys for various construction projects, ensuring the accuracy and quality of survey data while coordinating with project managers and engineers. This role emphasizes adherence to safety and ethical standards in surveying practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and supervise field survey activities for construction projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, pipelines, and utilities.
• Operate and maintain various survey equipment, including total stations, GPS, levels, lasers, and data collectors.
• Perform calculations, measurements, and adjustments of survey data using software and manuals.
• Communicate and coordinate with Chief Surveyor, project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients regarding survey requirements, specifications, and results.
• Train and mentor survey crew members and evaluate their performance and skills.
• Ensure compliance with survey standards, codes, and regulations, and adherence to safety and ethical practices.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction surveying.
• Proficient in using survey equipment, software, and methods.
• Knowledge of survey principles, practices, and procedures.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality surveying services.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, maps, and documents.
• Skilled in performing mathematical and geometric calculations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable.

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of experience as a Survey Party Chief or similar role
• Proficiency in using computer-aided drafting (CAD) software is a plus.
• Civil Engineering or construction industry experience is highly preferred.
