About the position
The Surveyor III - Data Technician role at Mott MacDonald involves working on a variety of surveying projects, focusing on data processing and quality control for pipeline surveys. The position requires strong technical skills and a collaborative attitude, as the technician will interact with supervisors, field crews, and clients to ensure accurate data handling and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Download, process, QC, and transmit survey data on preliminary, boundary, and construction surveys for pipeline projects using various software products.
- Communicate with supervisor and field crews regarding notes and data issues.
- Draft survey linework and attach object data.
- Generate TIN surfaces and stakeout files.
- Organize daily reports and field notes.
- Assist the Drafting team with survey-related questions.
- Plot deeds and assist with control plans.
- Support the Survey Department as needed.
- Interface with client representatives as required.
- Seek advice when necessary and demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow in the position.
- Utilize creativity and judgment to solve technical problems.
- Display strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent; an Associate's degree, 4-year degree in a related discipline, or SIT is strongly desired.
- In-depth knowledge of commonly used surveying terms.
- Experience with the latest software for downloading survey data from data collectors.
- Strong technical, documentation, and organizational skills.
