About the position

The Sushi Chef at RA Sushi is responsible for preparing a variety of sushi items and sauces for guests, ensuring a fun and inviting experience at the sushi bar. This role involves direct interaction with guests, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the sushi bar area, and adhering to the restaurant's food preparation and service guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests upon arrival to the sushi bar/lounge area.
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items using various kitchen equipment.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests and provide information about food.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction with food quality and service.
  • Perform shift opening and closing duties, including cleaning the neta cases, cutting boards, equipment, and floors.
  • Comply with the Company's standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, and safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, cooking areas, sushi counters, and food storage areas.
  • Report any kitchen/sushi equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty and head sushi chef.
  • Adhere to guidelines on proper food presentation and garnishes for all dishes.
  • Properly handle ready-to-eat food that is served raw and follow public health safety laws.
  • Use knives and kitchen tools to prepare food for the dining room, sushi lounge, and bar.
  • Keep Head Sushi Chef informed of inventories and report any issues with defective products or equipment.
  • Present a clean and neat appearance and use courteous manners with all guests.
  • Notify MOD when guests are not satisfied or if an accident occurs.
  • Adhere to Company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service.
  • Assist with the preparation of sushi items and sushi helpers as required.
  • Participate in ensuring guest special occasion celebrations are memorable.
  • Photograph and/or be photographed with guests upon request or direction from the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must successfully pass the Company's sushi chef training program and cooking procedures.
  • Previous experience as a sushi chef is highly desirable.
  • Culinary degree is a plus.
  • Approved food handling training as required by local laws.
