About the position

As a Sushi Clerk at Hy-Vee, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service while handling food products safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include filling customer orders, maintaining product freshness, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers. This position emphasizes teamwork, customer engagement, and adherence to food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading or unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking customer orders.
• Takes customer orders at the Chinese Express counter.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Reviews orders for the day and practices proper sanitation procedures to keep the work area clean and neat.
• Ensures that an adequate food supply is ready and on hand and develops or follows a production list.
• Prepares, finishes, and replenishes product as necessary, pulling product from cooler/freezer for preparation.
• Checks in product and puts product away, removes trash in a timely manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience with Food Safety Certification.
• Six months or more of similar or related experience.
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copying figures, counting, and recording.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a food service environment.
