About the position

The Suspension Design Engineer position at Hitachi Astemo involves working within the Shock Absorber Research & Development department to design and develop suspension components for the automotive and motorcycle industries. The role requires creating 3D CAD layouts, performing engineering analyses, and collaborating with suppliers and customers to enhance product development.

Responsibilities

• Creating 3D CAD layouts and suspension component designs
• Performing engineering analysis for new product development
• Creating detail drawings
• Communicating with suppliers and customers for new product development
• Conducting root-cause analysis of past design issues to improve design
• Occasional travel and overtime may be required

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals
• 3D CAD experience (Catia, Solidworks, or Pro-E preferred)
• Proficient in MS applications, including Excel and PowerPoint

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working in Japanese/American engineering culture
• Understanding of suspension design/function
• Motorcycle or automotive development experience (including FSAE, mini-baja, etc.)
• Interest in motorcycle or automotive hobbies
• Hands on mechanical aptitude
