About the position

The Sustainability Manager at Management Sciences for Health (MSH) will be responsible for managing the organization's greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and implementing MSH's Net Zero Plan. This role involves overseeing project-specific GHG reporting, providing technical assistance for emissions reduction, and contributing to new project designs. The position serves as a central point for sustainability efforts within MSH, engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote climate change initiatives and environmental responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage organization-wide and project-specific greenhouse gas inventories.
  • Track and implement MSH's Net Zero Plan.
  • Oversee project-specific GHG reporting and goal tracking.
  • Provide technical assistance to stakeholders in GHG emissions reduction and climate change resiliency.
  • Contribute to new project design and business development.
  • Develop data collection processes for GHG emissions data.
  • Lead internal and external reporting on GHG emissions.
  • Act as primary liaison for consultants engaged in GHG calculations.
  • Support the development and roll out of MSH's Net Zero Plan.
  • Convene MSH country office Green Teams.
  • Support project teams in developing Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plans.
  • Monitor MSH donor rules and regulations regarding sustainability topics.
  • Collaborate with teams to design staff capacity building opportunities for environmental awareness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-6 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 3-4 years of experience in sustainability or environmental science.
  • Practical experience in sustainability management for a global organization.
  • Experience working with low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in Africa, Asia, or Latin America/Caribbean.
  • Strong conceptualization, facilitation, and planning skills.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and active listening skills.
  • Experience in environmental communication and training.
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills and proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainability industry trends and GHG Protocol.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Global Reporting Initiative and Carbon Disclosure Project.
  • Knowledge of global standards for net zero plans.
