About the position

The Sustainability Analyst at Turner Construction is responsible for collecting, extracting, cleaning, and analyzing data to support sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. This role involves generating performance metrics, maintaining data quality, and preparing reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders. The analyst will collaborate with various teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with industry standards while contributing to continuous improvement in ESG processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, extract, clean, and analyze data to interpret results and validate dashboard insights for generating company performance data and metrics.
  • Generate calculations required for Sustainability and ESG reporting, including consolidation of metrics across reporting entities.
  • Maintain quality data within source systems, addressing duplicates, errors, or outliers to ensure accurate interpretations.
  • Track and analyze sustainability metrics such as energy consumption, water usage, waste production, and carbon emissions.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal stakeholders, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and progress toward goals.
  • Understand and follow established ESG-related industry standards, reporting frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Support sustainability audits and internal/external reporting.
  • Identify meaningful ways to visualize information to communicate insights and improvements for accuracy of reporting.
  • Assess and conduct testing of company data to identify trends, relationships, correlations, variances, and abnormalities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement reviews of ESG standard operating procedures (SOPs) and non-financial reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with HQ Sustainability and ESG teams, regional ESG leaders, and project teams to review business intelligence and data analysis results.
  • Build internal and external networks in support of Sustainability and ESG reporting.
  • Research and apply industry best practices for data collection and analysis methodologies.
  • Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and events beneficial to ESG-related continued learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program and a minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction and/or sustainability industry.
  • Construction Operations experience is desired.
  • Knowledge of sustainability concepts and metrics in the construction industry is a plus.
  • Proficient with data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Intermediate skills for querying and managing databases (e.g., SQL).
  • Experience with statistical analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with carbon accounting is preferred.
  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) professional accreditation or other relevant green building rating system accreditation is preferred or in pursuit of it.
  • Project management experience and ability to manage competing demands.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and timely documentation.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Active listening skills and strong follow-up practices.
  • Familiarity with basic continuous improvement concepts, methodologies, and tools.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database applications.
