About the position

Skanska is searching for a dynamic Sustainability Engineer to join our team in Portland, Oregon. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact on society and the environment. As a Sustainability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the sustainability efforts of Skanska USA Building. Your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with project teams to educate them on their sustainability responsibilities and guiding them in implementing green building strategies, systems, and standards. You will work closely with project teams to ensure they are effectively tracking and documenting their sustainability goals, which are essential for achieving certification through programs such as LEED, WELL, and the Living Building Challenge. In addition to project support, you will lead the collection and reporting of carbon data, aligning with our commitment to meet milestone reduction goals by 2030 and 2045. This role also involves providing training and conducting research for the Green Project Solutions team, ensuring that our projects not only meet but exceed sustainability standards. Responsibilities

  • Support sustainability efforts of Skanska USA Building.
  • Educate project teams on sustainability responsibilities and green building strategies.
  • Track and document project sustainability goals for certification efforts.
  • Lead the collection and reporting of carbon data.
  • Support training and research for the Green Project Solutions team.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of building construction or sustainability related experience.
  • Experience with benchmarking used in carbon emissions tracking with regard to construction processes.
  • Experience working on LEED projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field, or 8 years equivalent experience plus a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience.
