About the position

The Sustainability Field Service Consultant at Jordan & Skala Engineers is responsible for providing field verification and testing services related to energy and green building codes. This role involves significant travel to project construction sites, where the consultant will perform inspections, collect and analyze data, and ensure compliance with various sustainability standards. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data to identify needs and devise strategies to meet project goals.
• Prepare preliminary reports for review by Sustainability Field Consultant or Sustainability Field Architect/Engineer.
• Provide field verification and testing services at active construction sites.
• Perform site visits to review and fill out pre-functional checklists.
• Witness, direct, and perform functional performance testing during site visits.
• Conduct Indoor Air Quality Testing, Envelope Enclosure testing, Duct Tightness testing, and other related tests.
• Review and verify on-site systems and documents for Green Building Compliance.
• Assist in providing on-site inspections and verification of project compliance for energy and green building codes.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to communicate field observations related to green building and energy code compliance.
• Assist in performing Energy Code Inspections for city and local jurisdictions.

Requirements

• Up to 50% travel to project construction sites.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to become certified in various code and above-code certifications (e.g., Building Commissioning Professional, IECC Inspector, NGBS Verifier, HERS Rater).
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products.
• Knowledge of energy programs including ENERGY STAR.
• Familiarity with energy and building sciences.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Foxit and Bluebeam software.
• Familiarity with Archisnapper functions.
