About the position

The Sustainability Logistics Manager is a seasonal role that supports the Sustainability Coordinator in executing sustainability initiatives for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. This position involves overseeing logistics and operations related to sustainability programs before, during, and after events, ensuring that all activities align with sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in drafting detailed timelines, resource allocation, and contingency plans for event logistics.
  • Assist the Sustainability Coordinator in managing sustainability initiatives and ensure vendors, artists, and sponsors meet sustainability goals.
  • Support volunteer outreach and recruitment efforts.
  • Participate in interviews for sustainability positions within the organization.
  • Assist in budget tracking alongside the Sustainability Coordinator and Operations Manager.
  • Prepare and submit necessary paperwork for sustainability directives and recycling efforts.
  • Take ownership of all inventory and assets related to sustainability operations.
  • Implement efficient inventory tracking systems to monitor usage and minimize waste.
  • Manage relationships with vendors providing vehicles and equipment for sustainability operations.
  • Monitor processes, volunteers, and duties during the event.
  • Assist with training employees and creating relevant training documents.
  • Participate in the sorting process of recycling and landfill materials as needed.
  • Generate comprehensive assessments and reports for the Green Team's sustainability program goals after events.
  • Oversee the breakdown and storage of all supplies used for sustainability and recycling programs.

Requirements

  • Passion for environmental awareness and sustainability impacts.
  • Willingness, flexibility, and a positive attitude to contribute to the festival's success.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Workspace.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and handle stress in a high-pressure production setting.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 40 lbs.
