About the position

The Sustainability Operations Manager is responsible for implementing and recommending best practices to achieve clients' sustainability objectives. This role involves developing management tools and processes to streamline reporting, improving visual communication of sustainability data, and managing waste and energy-saving projects across various facilities. The manager will work closely with stakeholders to ensure effective sustainability management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input and recommendations to build a NetZero Roadmap for various building types including offices, data centers, and retail locations.
  • Track, analyze and report on global sustainability metrics, including energy, greenhouse gas (GHG), water, and waste.
  • Develop and implement waste sustainability measures across the portfolio, including ideation, implementation, and communication plans.
  • Manage waste vendor partners and ensure service levels and correct metrics and reporting.
  • Increase the portfolio diversion rate through targeted improvements to low performing facilities.
  • Develop and implement energy saving projects, including vendor coordination and managing national energy saving projects.
  • Provide relevant data for benchmarking and support sustainability reporting.
  • Develop, maintain and implement a rolling multi-year plan for tracking progress towards sustainability goals.
  • Administer and analyze sustainability data collection and reporting systems, identifying trends and solutions.
  • Coordinate external audits of sustainability data and close out any audit actions.
  • Develop and implement sustainability management tools for the client account.
  • Streamline sustainability reporting systems and provide guidance and training.
  • Establish data reporting governance across the portfolio for timely reporting.
  • Evaluate and analyze sustainability data to provide intelligence to the account team.
  • Provide benchmarking and market intelligence information to inform strategy.
  • Develop analytical tools for enhanced decision-making capability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, energy management, climate change, sustainability, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of related sustainability project management experience.
  • Experience in end-to-end utility management, energy, water, and waste audits, and conservation measures.
  • Knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting and sustainable operational excellence best practices.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven project management skills with accountability for time, budget, and resources.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently and collaboratively in a global environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience developing presentation materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of sustainability trends within the Real Estate sector.
  • Experience with online software platforms for data analysis.
