About the position

The Sustainable Transportation and Energy Ambassador will be responsible for implementing energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable transportation initiatives in Central Arkansas. This role involves extensive community outreach, education, and technical assistance to ensure successful project implementation, supported by a 5-year grant from the EPA's Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG). The position also includes supporting Metroplan's planning efforts, data analysis, report writing, and coordination with public and private stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to ensure program design meets community needs.
  • Conduct education to connect community needs with available resources.
  • Present information through meetings with community organizations, churches, and direct contact methods such as door hangers.
  • Market the availability of rebates, pass-through grants, and loans.
  • Provide education and assistance to reduce barriers to the utilization of rebates, pass-through grants, and loans.
  • Promote grants among public agencies in small and low-income and/or disadvantaged communities (LIDACs).
  • Provide assistance throughout the Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) application and implementation process.
  • Use county data to identify and contact commercial property owners, realtors, and developers about the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (CPACE) opportunity.
  • Work with eligible entities to analyze needs and identify suitable locations for energy projects.
  • Assist governmental and nonprofit organizations with land conservation and restoration goals.
  • Support cities and counties in implementing Central Arkansas Regional Greenway trail construction.
  • Assist local governments, nonprofits, commercial building owners, and residents in accessing existing funding and community resources for weatherization, building efficiency upgrades, and renewable energy implementation.
  • Spearhead energy efficiency projects and engage community members in sustainable practices.
  • Assist governmental and nonprofit organizations with fleet electrification, EV charging installation, and streetlight conversion to LED.
  • Support workforce development activities and communicate community workforce needs to program managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with sustainability-related major or relevant coursework.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in environmental sustainability, renewable energy, energy efficiency, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state grant regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in progress tracking and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication, outreach, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders.
