About the position

The Sustaining Engineer - CNC Programmer at Ascentec Engineering LLC plays a crucial role in transitioning projects from New Product Introduction (NPI) to production. This position focuses on maintaining the integrity of components while adhering to high standards of quality. The role involves deploying automated manufacturing processes and addressing product quality issues. The programmer will be responsible for critical components manufactured on various CNC machines and will work closely with commercial aerospace, spaceflight, and semiconductor companies to develop innovative manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support moving projects from NPI to production while maintaining component integrity.
  • Develop manufacturing solutions for complex components in collaboration with aerospace and semiconductor companies.
  • Comprehend engineering notes and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Utilize SolidWorks and CAM software to create standard and custom tooling solutions.
  • Streamline SolidWorks to CAM programming using SolidWorks output or third-party CAM software.
  • Train new or current programmers and provide assistance when needed.
  • Review manufacturing processes for other engineers' methods.
  • Perform other tasks as defined by leadership.

Requirements

  • Proficient in SolidWorks and 3-D modeling with advanced knowledge of MasterCam or NX.
  • Strong conceptual design visualization skills and ability to communicate complex ideas.
  • Efficient problem-solving skills, focusing on simple solutions to complex problems.
  • Aptitude for mechanical design, capable of designing intermediate to complex multi-part assemblies.
  • Knowledge of ASME Print Reading and GD&T fundamentals.
  • Ability to review designs with the quality team.
  • Excellent computer skills and understanding of file systems.
  • General understanding of material properties, machinability, and finishes.
