About the position

The SVP, Accounting at Holladay Property Services is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and the implementation of effective policies and procedures. This position plays a crucial role in the company's financial strategy and directs all systems and processes related to accounting and financial control, supporting the mission of enriching lives through investment and service.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to stakeholders, including the board of directors and investors.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements and reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate tax return/compilation/audit preparation and provide necessary information for external auditors.
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and treasury management.
  • Oversee the budgeting process, including forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in long-term financial planning and strategic planning to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of real estate fund structure to ensure all financial reporting requirements are met.
  • Manage capital contributions, distributions, and investor allocations.
  • Foster a culture of leadership by promoting collaboration, teamwork, trust, and empowerment across the organization.
  • Serve as a member of the organizational leadership team to develop, shape, and execute organizational mission, vision, and strategy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or another relevant field required.
  • MBA or MACC strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Experience with real estate and/or fund management software such as Yardi, MRI, Argus, or other similar financial systems is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in commercial real estate is preferred.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, real estate private equity funds preferred, but not required.
  • Financial experience with multi-family, hotels, industrial development is a plus.
