About the position

The SVP, Corporate Governance at AmeriHome Mortgage is responsible for overseeing audit, governance, and enterprise risk activities within the organization. This role is situated within the Strategic Initiatives team and aims to enhance control effectiveness, minimize operational risk, and improve audit outcomes. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with industry experts and contributing to the company's growth and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee audit and exam coordination for investor and third-party exams, internal audits, and SOX testing.
  • Ensure appropriate managers are engaged with the audit/exam process and manage evidence requests.
  • Assist in the development of remediation plans and monitor control remediation as needed.
  • Support the Business Continuity Management (BCM) lifecycle and monitor compliance with risk policies.
  • Coordinate with Business Controls Testing to ensure Risk and Control Inventories are accurate and compliant.
  • Facilitate risk and control assessments and identify control gaps for remediation.
  • Coordinate committee approvals and maintain governance documents.
  • Oversee annual policy updates and monitor content quality and compliance.
  • Develop management reporting for the Governance team and assist in training junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree or relevant certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 8+ years in the financial services industry or a highly regulated industry with significant risk and compliance controls.
  • At least 5 years of audit experience, including supervision or management of audits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical concepts and presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with financial services regulatory requirements and risk management.
