About the position

LPL Financial is seeking a Chief Data Architect to join its technology team, a pivotal role that will drive the definition of the target-state architecture across various technology domains. This newly created position is integral to the company's mission of empowering financial advisors through advanced data solutions. The Chief Data Architect will work closely with the CIO of Data Technology and the Chief Data Officer, contributing to the broader enterprise architecture strategy and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic vision. This role is not just about overseeing data architecture; it is about leading a transformation that will redefine the financial landscape by leveraging cloud-based technologies and innovative data solutions. As a Fellow Chief Data Architect, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive roadmap for transforming LPL Financial's data infrastructure. This includes leading the creation of a cohesive data ecosystem that supports both batch and real-time data ingestion and processing, as well as analytics and machine learning for critical advisor and client-facing applications. Your vision will ensure that the systems are not only functional but also excel in performance, security, and scalability, guaranteeing the continuous availability of services. In this role, you will spearhead complex, enterprise-wide transformation projects, ensuring that the technology stack remains at the cutting edge of the industry. You will collaborate with business, product, and technology leaders to translate advisor and client needs into groundbreaking technical solutions. As a technical mentor, you will inspire and lead a team of talented data architects, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning. Your expertise will also guide the company in exceeding regulatory requirements, ensuring data security and integrity, and enhancing the advisor and investor experience through innovative technological solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for transforming LPL Financial's data infrastructure.
  • Lead the creation of a cohesive data ecosystem using Cloud technologies for batch and real-time data ingestion and processing.
  • Spearhead complex, enterprise-wide transformation projects with a strategic and results-oriented approach.
  • Work closely with business, product, and technology leaders to align strategic vision with architectural roadmap.
  • Serve as an industry expert for enterprise architecture tools, technology, and standards.
  • Inspire and lead a team of talented data architects, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Guide the company in meeting and exceeding regulatory requirements regarding data security.
  • Engage directly with financial advisors to understand their needs and drive technological solutions.
  • Evaluate and select technologies and platforms that facilitate execution and engineering delivery excellence.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, with AWS certification highly regarded.
  • At least 15 years of experience in software engineering and architecture, focusing on data technology and cloud solutions.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture and engineering delivery, with at least 5 years in a Chief Data Architect role.
  • Proven leadership in executing transformative projects, with a strong command of modern cloud-based data processing, analytics, and AI/ML.
  • Skilled in crafting robust data ecosystems optimized for high-volume, real-time operations.
  • Proficiency in architecting Event-Driven solutions encompassing event brokers, streams, and serverless functions.
  • Adept in formulating and enforcing Master Data Management (MDM) strategies and data governance frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of modern workplace practices including Domain-Based Design, DevSecOps, Continuous Delivery, and Agile methodologies.
