About the position

The SVRLA Quality Assurance Engineer II at EnerSys is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing quality systems specifically for Submarine Valve Regulated Lead Acid (SVRLA) products. This role involves managing manufacturing quality assurance, ensuring compliance with contracts, and leading projects aimed at continual product quality improvements. The engineer will collaborate with various teams, including production, engineering, and customers, to facilitate quality enhancements and conduct audits, while also preparing formal reports for stakeholders such as the U.S. Navy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage manufacturing quality assurance and projects related to continual product quality improvements for SVRLA.
  • Develop and maintain quality department documentation and quality information systems.
  • Coordinate and conduct product quality improvement projects to maximize product performance and life.
  • Provide formal reporting to customers on project activities and internal reporting on quality improvements.
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis techniques to identify opportunities for improvement in products and processes.
  • Drive continual improvement activities within the facility regarding SVRLA, coordinating with manufacturing and engineering teams.
  • Assist in timely resolution of corrective and preventive actions with suppliers and customers.
  • Create and provide training on Quality Assurance techniques and improvements to departmental personnel.
  • Lead meetings to ensure timely completion of root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Develop and publish documentation for effective quality systems to ensure compliance with ISO 9001.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering/Technology/Business with two years of experience in a quality engineering role or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and quality control methods, particularly in the lead-acid battery industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, MiniTab, and Access.
  • Strong written and verbal English skills.
  • Higher than average knowledge of mathematics, statistical, and quality control methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certificates such as CQE, CQA, CRE are preferred.
  • Ability to use gauging equipment and read blueprints, military specifications, and DoD contracts.
