About the position

The Software Engineer position at Amazon Robotics involves designing, developing, and testing software for mobile-robotic fulfillment systems. This role focuses on applying machine learning and software engineering principles to optimize robotic operations, enhancing customer experiences through innovative technology. Engineers will work in a collaborative environment, closely interacting with research teams and receiving mentorship to foster professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, design and support the development of novel ML systems, product integrations, and performance optimizations.
  • Design, develop, integrate, troubleshoot, optimize, test and lead the development of software which control and optimizes robotic fulfillment centers at very large scale.
  • Prototype and test concepts or features, both through simulation tools and emulators and with live robotic equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with the research organization, principal applied scientists and software engineers to bring research to production.
  • Envision, lead, and support the development of novel ML systems, product integrations, and performance optimizations.
  • Lead, mentor, challenge and grow enthusiastic, collaborative software engineers and applied scientists across the organization.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Strong background or familiarity with algorithms used to solve complex problems for highly-scalable systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
