About the position

The Swim Instructor-In Training position at the Andover YMCA is designed for individuals who are passionate about water safety and teaching swimming skills. This part-time role allows candidates to gain experience while shadowing certified swim instructors and working towards obtaining the necessary YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification. The position emphasizes creating a safe and enjoyable environment for both youth and adults, promoting member safety and satisfaction in alignment with YMCA policies.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist certified swim instructors while learning programming and emergency procedures.
• Communicate policies and procedures for the pool and whirlpool consistently.
• Provide excellent customer service in a safe and positive atmosphere.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16.
• Experience swimming, with the ability to demonstrate Stage 4 level swimming skills.
• Ability to complete YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification within 90 days of hire.
• Patience and effective communication skills with all ages and levels of swimmers.
