About the position

The Swim Instructor position at Goldfish Swim School involves teaching swim lessons to children in a fun and engaging environment. Instructors are responsible for preparing lesson materials, teaching water safety and swim skills, and communicating progress to parents. This part-time role offers opportunities for personal and professional growth within the company, with leadership positions available within the first 3-6 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare class materials and lesson themes based on the established curriculum.
• Teach swim lessons to groups of 4 swimmers, or 6 in parent-and-me classes.
• Communicate progress and celebrate accomplishments with parents and caregivers after each lesson.
• Participate in pre-shift meetings and arrive 15 minutes before lessons start.
• Find and prepare substitute teachers when unable to teach.

Requirements

• Ability to swim and pass a basic swim test (50 yards).
• Commit to missing no more than one class every 6 weeks (80-90% attendance).
• Ability to be in the water for 4 hours at a time.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in child care, camp counseling, or teaching.
• Background in athletics, art, or theater.
