About the position

The Part-Time Swim Instructor at Colorado Clownfish Swim Club is responsible for teaching swimming skills to individuals of all ages and skill levels in a safe and supportive environment. Responsibilities

  • Conduct swim lessons for individuals of varying ages and skill levels, including children and adults.
  • Assess the swimming abilities of participants and provide appropriate instruction tailored to their needs.
  • Teach proper swimming techniques, including strokes, breathing, and water safety skills.
  • Create lesson plans and structure classes to ensure progressive learning and skill development.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants during lessons, adhering to established safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and skill levels of each participant.
  • Communicate effectively with participants and their parents/guardians to provide feedback and address any concerns or questions.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, promoting a love for swimming and water activities.
  • Assist with the setup and takedown of equipment and ensure the cleanliness and organization of the swim area.
  • Stay updated with the latest swim instruction techniques and safety guidelines through continuous professional development.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a swim instructor, lifeguard, or related aquatic position is highly preferred.
  • Strong swimming skills and a comprehensive knowledge of swimming strokes, techniques, and water safety.
  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding (or willingness to obtain certifications before starting).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with participants, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Passion for teaching and a genuine desire to help individuals develop their swimming skills.
  • Flexible availability to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the facility's schedule.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and progress reports.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
