About the position

As a Swiss CNC Operator at Reader Precision Solutions, you will be part of a high-tech machining facility focused on producing precision components. Your role will involve operating CNC Swiss machines, ensuring quality control, interpreting blueprints, and collaborating with the production team. You will also be responsible for routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and adhering to safety protocols to maintain a smooth workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Operate one or more Swiss CNC machines to perform machining operations such as turning, drilling, boring, threading, and milling to specifications.
  • Monitor machine operation and verify conformance of work pieces to specifications using precision measuring tools.
  • Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to meet job requirements.
  • Make basic machine and tool adjustments as needed to maintain part conformance.
  • Consistently check parts for quality control and ensure non-conforming parts are controlled per protocols.
  • Adjust part dimensions using offsets, change inserts, and properly center and touch off tools.
  • Ensure all job-related documentation and inspection requirements are followed and tooling is accounted for.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of machine and bar feeder alarms as they arise.
  • Prep and load specified bar stock into the feeding mechanism.
  • Conduct routine maintenance to optimize CNC machine performance.
  • Examine processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Record and maintain production data and documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Swiss CNC operating experience.
  • Formal training or certification in CNC machining preferred.
  • Operational knowledge and ability to use inspection equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Familiarity with varied materials and their machining requirements.
  • Knowledge of routine maintenance procedures for CNC machines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
  • Knowledge of basic metalworking theory including cutting, tooling, and material properties.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in basic data entry within ERP systems.
  • Basic math skills for calculations and measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and accuracy.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic with a drive for results.
  • Collaborative mindset focused on teamwork.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize time-sensitive projects/tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software is a plus.
