About the position

As a Switchgear Project Coordinator at Colonial Electric Supply, you will play a pivotal role in leading the gear project team to ensure the success of projects for both the client and the company. This position is hybrid, requiring 25% travel to job sites and branches, and is based in Piscataway, NJ. You will be the primary point of contact for customers post-order commitment, responsible for coordinating all actions related to the project. This includes understanding and meeting all timelines, negotiating with manufacturers, and ensuring that all project specifications are met. Your role can be likened to that of a conductor of an orchestra, where you will harmonize the various negotiations and technical personnel involved in creating the Bill of Material (BOM), submitting product details for approval, and entering shipping information into the company's proprietary software, Jobtrack. In this position, you will be expected to respond to all customer inquiries promptly and enter data as needed to keep the project moving forward. You will also review gear specifications and drawings, as well as electrical drawings and fixture schedules, ensuring that all aspects of the project are coordinated effectively. Your ability to communicate clearly, follow up continuously, and lead with a friendly demeanor will be essential to your success in this role. Attention to detail and the ability to match information accurately will also be critical as you manage the various components of each project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the gear project team to ensure project success for clients and Colonial Electric Supply.
  • Coordinate all actions related to the project, including timelines and customer inquiries.
  • Negotiate with manufacturers to secure necessary components for projects.
  • Review gear specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Submit electrical drawings and fixture schedules to the project design team.
  • Enter shipping information into the company's proprietary software, Jobtrack.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and maintain communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a similar major.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use computing skills to complete required job tasks.
  • Understanding of technical product specifications and drawings.
  • Ability to understand and maintain project accounting.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in matching information.
