About the position

The Switchgear Sales Representative at Caterpillar, Inc. is responsible for driving sales revenue and profitability for the Electric Power Division's paralleling switchgear and automatic transfer switches. This field-based role involves consulting with Cat dealers, providing design assistance, and training on products and services. The position requires strong communication and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage complex customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Deliver sales revenue and profitability goals for the assigned territory in paralleling switchgear and automatic transfer switches.
• Act as a sales liaison among dealers, consulting engineers, customers, and other Caterpillar personnel.
• Perform complex analysis work, identifying and resolving technical problems related to specifications, quotes, and power quality.
• Counsel dealers on increasing human performance capability and assist in sales strategy planning.
• Provide design assistance to consulting engineers and end users for electrical system design and optimization.
• Train consulting engineers, customers, and dealers on Caterpillar's products and advances in technology.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Power Generation Products including generator sets, paralleling switchgear, and automatic transfer switches.
• Strong communication, leadership, and relationship building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex assignments.
• Ability to influence others in the work group and with customers.
• Prior customer-facing experience.
• High level of initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in business development and value selling techniques.
• Familiarity with electrical system design and optimization.
