About the position

The Switchgear Sales Representative at Caterpillar's Electric Power Division (EPD) is responsible for driving sales revenue and profitability for generator paralleling switchgear and Automatic Transfer Switch products. This field-based role requires strong communication and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage complex customer relationships. The representative will consult with Cat dealers, provide design assistance, and train stakeholders on Caterpillar's products, all while contributing to sustainable solutions for various commercial and industrial electric power customers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver sales revenue and profitability goals for the assigned territory in paralleling switchgear and automatic transfer switches.
• Act as a sales liaison among dealers, consulting engineers, customers, and other Caterpillar personnel.
• Perform complex analysis work, identifying and resolving technical problems.
• Counsel dealers in developing increased human performance capability and provide guidance on customer service issues.
• Assist in sales strategy planning and support the rollout of new products.
• Provide design assistance directly to key consulting engineers and end users.
• Train consulting engineers, customers, and dealers on Caterpillar's products and services.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Power Generation Products including generator sets, paralleling switchgear, and automatic transfer switches.
• Strong communication, leadership, and relationship building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and on larger scale, more complex assignments.
• Prior customer facing experience.
• High level of initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in value selling techniques.
• Familiarity with electrical system design and optimization.
