About the position

The Kindergarten Teacher at Greenvale Western Heights Public Schools is responsible for instructing students in accordance with state and district curricular standards. This role involves creating a positive learning environment, maintaining classroom discipline, and adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students. The teacher will engage with students, parents, and staff, ensuring effective communication and support for student learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students in the classroom and throughout the building and grounds throughout the work day.
• Maintains proper classroom discipline.
• Instructs students according to the approved curriculum and state and district standards.
• Prepares lessons that progress sequentially and offer alternate ways for learning.
• Keeps accurate grade books, records, and reports pursuant to school or district policy.
• Models friendships, acceptance, and recognition among students.
• Establishes effective instructional objectives and explains purpose and procedure for completing assignments.
• Encourages effective learning with proper teaching techniques and involves learners in the process.
• Monitors student activities and progress through grading and feedback.
• Provides opportunities for all students to achieve based on their learning capacity.
• Contributes to the effectiveness of school programs, including extracurricular activities.
• Interacts constructively with parents and attends school and district meetings as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education (Minimum)
• State Licensure or Certification
• Completion of student teaching
• Demonstration of Content Knowledge when teaching assignment is in ESSA category required to meet highly qualified standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with special education students
• Knowledge of Oklahoma Academic skills and the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Model
