About the position

Bridge Boston Charter School is seeking a School Social Worker under the Director of Student Support to help students and families make the best use of available opportunities and resources and to fully develop each student's individual potential. The School Social Worker will provide an understanding of the psychosocial development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences as they interact with the educational process. The role includes providing counseling and crisis intervention, gathering information for 51A reports, and participating in the special education referral process. The School Social Worker will also support teachers in creating safe and nurturing environments and will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to meet students' social, emotional, and academic needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling and crisis intervention as indicated by need of student, teacher or district
  • Gather information and file 51A reports in collaboration with school staff
  • Provide clinical guidance during and participate in the pre-referral process of special education
  • Write counseling IEP goals, progress reports, and annual review reports
  • Attend IEP meetings as needed
  • Participate in all Student Support and Social Work Team meetings
  • Provide climate and culture support to teachers in developing and maintaining safe, welcoming, nurturing, inclusive and enriching environments
  • Develop emotional regulation skills in young students through individual and small group counseling
  • Implement and maintain an inclusive model of service delivery through cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships
  • Provide ongoing consultation to administrators, teachers, and other professionals
  • Participate in a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS)
  • Assess and interpret maladaptive school behavior and recommend interventions
  • Consult in the development of behavioral intervention plans with school staff
  • Create and implement attendance intervention plans with students identified by the Student Support Team
  • Manage a caseload of 504 students
  • Create and manage effective communication with parents and community based organizations
  • Make referrals, coordinate, and maintain outreach to parents and outside agencies
  • Provide culturally competent services

Requirements

  • Masters in Social Work, LCSW, LICSW, LMHC and/or DESE School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor licensure
  • At least 2 years of experience as a school social worker or in a clinical setting preferred
  • Prior experience with elementary-aged children and adolescents of diverse demographics preferred
  • Excellent organization skills, and superior written and verbal communication
  • Ability to focus and thrive in a fast paced environment and when responding to crises
  • Strong familiarity with the local community based resources
