About the position

The K-8 Art Teacher is responsible for providing quality art education to students in grades K-8 at the Charles S Deneen School. This role involves instructional planning, implementing teaching methods, evaluating student progress, and maintaining discipline in the classroom. The teacher will also engage with parents and participate in school activities to enhance the educational experience of students.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional planning and written lesson plans in accordance with the instructional program objectives.
• Establish positive learning expectations and evaluate student progress.
• Implement instructional methods and contemporary teaching methodologies.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievements and attendance.
• Establish and maintain classroom rules of conduct and discipline.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and conduct.
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
• Coordinate and attend class field trips and extracurricular activities.

Requirements

• Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and coursework for the appropriate teaching certificate(s).
• Possession of a valid Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) endorsed for this position.
• Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching art to K-8 students.
