About the position

The Part-time Spanish Coach at I Dream Public Charter School (PCS) is a contracted position requiring 20-25 hours per week. In this role, the coach will facilitate the learning process for students, referred to as "learners," rather than simply directing their education. This approach aligns with I Dream PCS's mission to transform relationships between learners, the curriculum, and the community. The Spanish Coach will be responsible for planning and leading daily Spanish classes, providing essential enrichment activities that support the school's commitment to self-directed learning. I Dream PCS aims to serve between 95-107 learners in grades PK3-5, with classes consisting of 17-22 learners each. The coach will have the opportunity to participate in additional programs, such as before and after care services, to increase their working hours. The ideal candidate will embody the school's mission and values, demonstrating a growth mindset and a commitment to lifelong learning. They will be expected to leverage strengths and assets in their teaching approach, fostering a positive and collaborative environment for both learners and staff. Essential competencies for this role include planning a curriculum that reflects I Dream PCS's Core Values, embracing a learner-centered instructional model, and providing culturally responsive instruction. The coach will also collaborate with classroom coaches to integrate relevant content and co-create a classroom management system that promotes self-directed learning. Building supportive relationships with learners, their families, and the community is crucial to the success of this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Degree in Education or a related field.
  • 2+ years of teaching experience working with young learners below the age of 10.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
