About The Position
PROLIM Global Corporation is currently seeking a Sybase - Database Admin 4 to join our team in Lansing, Michigan. This position is not a short-term contract; we are looking for a candidate who can meet our skill requirements and potentially transition into a full-time employee role. The selected candidate will be expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with two days on-site. There is a rotation for on-call duties from Saturday morning to Monday morning, and the candidate may be required to assist with this after an initial learning period. Overtime and weekend work are rare and must be scheduled and approved by our customer. The environment is predominantly Sybase, specifically version 15.7 on Solaris within an X86 hardware environment, and we are in the process of transitioning to a pure SQL Server environment over the next three years. The SQL Server environment consists of mixed versions of SQL Server on various Windows Server versions, with an upcoming project to update these versions. The candidate will assist with the Sybase 15.7 environment and will need to have experience with both Sybase and SQL Server, as well as a Unix background for running and developing CRON jobs. The DBA will be expected to assist with tasks during after-hours implementations, which will help reduce the workload on senior DBAs. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in weekly data fixes and will assist SQL Server DBAs, requiring some experience with Windows Servers and SQL Server. A strong desired experience includes migration from Sybase to SQL Server, as this is a critical aspect of the role.
