About the position

Sylvan Learning Center is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic part-time tutors to assist high school and middle school students in math and science subjects. The role involves teaching pre-planned lessons in subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus, while also providing support for homework and test preparation. Tutors will work in small groups, fostering a motivating and inspiring learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach high school students in subjects including Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus.
• Assist students with their math homework and test preparation.
• Utilize pre-planned lessons to explain topics and guide students in independent work.
• Motivate and connect with students to inspire a love for learning.
• Work with late-elementary and middle school students as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a discipline requiring 3 or more years of college-level math.
• Advanced knowledge of Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
• Minimum of one to two years of teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and manage small groups of students.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers and printers.
